Guide Your Health:
Your Story, Your Future!
The North West LHIN launches a
community engagement initiative
April 14, 2015 – The North West LHIN
has launched a campaign entitled Guide Your Health: Your Story, Your Future, to encourage residents region-wide to help guide the future of health
care in their communities and changes they want to see to make a difference in
The perspectives, experiences, and priorities gathered
throughout the process will significantly contribute to the development of the
North West LHIN’s next Integrated Health Services Plan (IHSP).
IHSP is a plan that the North West LHIN relies
on to make decisions about health system transformation, health service
delivery and funding allocations. It also identifies priorities for improvements within the health system and guides the
LHIN’s operations in
Northwestern Ontario for a 3-year period. Since 2015-2016
marks the final year of the North West LHIN’s current IHSP, which spans from April
1, 2013 to March 31, 2016, the next IHSP will come into effect on April 1,
Guide Your Health: Your Story, Your Future kicks off on April 14 and will extend until June 30, 2015. There will
exciting opportunities for the public, health service providers, and other
sector partners to get involved. Watch for North West LHIN representatives at
health fairs and community expos, where they will operate an interactive booth
inviting attendees to leave their “footprint” on the journey to good health in
the Northwest. In addition, the North West LHIN hopes to meet many individuals
in person at one of its interactive community workshops hosted across the
region. People can also take the conversation online and submit comments on the
North West LHIN’s web or social media pages.
The North West LHIN anticipates that the upcoming
initiative will strike a chord with many community members throughout the
region. Laura Kokocinski, North West LHIN CEO, is quick to acknowledge the
important role that local voices and knowledge play in shaping the plan.
“We always look forward to engaging with communities
across Northwestern Ontario, because we need them to tell us whether we’re on
the right track,” she said. “The North West LHIN is passionate about ensuring
the IHSP reflects the unique health needs and priorities of this region. The
best way to do that is to hear directly from community members who live in
Northwestern Ontario, whose understanding of and experiences with local health
care we value as second to none,” she added.
Geraldton, Ontario, will be the first community
engagement session of the campaign on April 17, 2015. Residents are encouraged
to visit the Guide Your Health: Your Story, Your Future webpage to connect with the North West
LHIN online, and to see the latest updates about each stop on the North West
LHIN’s journey. We look forward to your participation!
