Hospital Report Manager and Physician Office Integration

Hospital Report Manager (HRM) is a system that transfers patient reports from the hospital information system to OntarioMD-certified electronic medical records (EMRs).  HRM converts the patient report into the EMR standard message format, encrypts and stores the report in a secure folder for pick-up by the intended EMR.  Once the EMR picks up the report, it is posted to the clinicians’ inbox for review and sign-off.  There are over 100 report types sent through HRM.  Some examples include:

  • Operative Reports

  • Consultative Notes

  • Discharge Summaries

  • ER Reports

  • eNotifications

  • OTN Telehomecare Reports

  • Bone Mineral Density Transcription (without images)

  • Mammogram (without images)

  • CT Transcription (without images)

  • Radiology Transcription (without images)

This system eliminates the need to print, fax, mail, courier and re-scan patient information sent by paper.  In the North West LHIN, enrolled clinicians currently receive reports by a solution called Physician Office Integration (POI).  Transition from Physician Office Integration is planned for FY 2018/2019.
